Loc: Shifting Sands
Waves of sand are driven by the wind to lap at the feet of wanderers. Movement in this area begins at half speed due to the difficult terrain; however, the area takes four turns to cross.
Without wide foot-gear like snowshoes or a vehicle like a sand skimmer, an organism with a heavy step or small footprint (including most player characters) will slowly sink below the desert surface.
There is a 1-in-6 chance that the party's complete submersion is preceded by the appearance of a sandworm at the start of the second turn, and again at the start of the third. By the end of the fourth turn, the party will have vanished entirely.
