Loc: Salt Flat

A large, white plain of cracked salt, studded with pillars. The pillars increase in frequency toward the center of the flat. Upon closer inspection, many of the pillars are incredibly detailed, humanoid statues made of salt; they flake when disturbed and deform when wet. Each statue appears in awe, oriented toward the center of the flat.

At the center is a wide circular pattern of rippled salt scales, as if a shock wave emanated from the midpoint. Getting to the other side of the flat to go deeper takes at least eight turns; skirting around the center adds 1d4+4 turns.

Encounters with extra-planar entities at the center of the salt flat require a save vs. fear against becoming a salt statue. Statues in good condition can be resurrected by turning them back into flesh. Transportation is not recommended.
