Loc: Extinct Town

Mud-brick buildings are being smoothed down by sandy winds. The remains of this town are seemingly uninhabited and the well in the center is dry.

To generate the map, drop a handful of dice onto paper. Mark down a building where each die lands and note its rolled value. D12s are two stories high. D20s are a smaller building on top of a larger building. There may or may not be a ladder.

Contents (the number rolled):

  1. Fragments of ancient pottery scattered across the floor, large jars that once held grains or other provisions.
  2. Exceptionally well-preserved ancient garments. Worth 10 silver x Depth to a collector.
  3. Walls, floors, or ceilings are severely cracked. 2d6 damage upon investigation of the building, as it collapses.
  4. Old chairs and table, worn by time and the harsh conditions.
  5. Concealed in the wall, a cache of 2d6 x Depth ancient silver pieces. Possibly worth double or more in archaeological and historical contexts.
  6. Something has made its home here: roll an Encounter.
  7. Threadbare rugs and carpets adorn the mud-brick floors. Forgotten garments left hanging in the corner, now covered in desert dust.
  8. A collection of intact amphorae containing preserved oils or wines. Worth 100 silver x Depth to connoisseurs.
  9. The building had its own water storage. It is full; however, it has gone foul.
  10. Faint traces of ancient murals are barely discernible on the walls.
  11. Precious ornament or jewelry, worth 100 silver x Depth.
  12. A massive statue looms in the corner of the structure, top-heavy and unstable. In its advanced age, it is at risk of collapsing on any who attempt to move it. DEX save or 3d6 damage.
  13. Wispy apparitions of long-departed inhabitants replay scenes from the past.
  14. A skillfully crafted weapon leans against the wall. Roll a weapon. It is intricate and lighter than usual; worth 100 silver x Depth.
  15. A potted plant, still thriving despite the building's age. The ingredient for a poultice that heals 1d6 STR damage; or, it can be cultivated in a dry environment.
  16. Mysterious glowing sigils are etched onto the mud-brick walls. Have no effect other than light and artistic expression.
  17. A smooth wooden box contains scrolls detailing historical records, recipes, or rituals. One describes the construction of an arcane device.
  18. Rune-carved stones are placed strategically around the inside of the structure to ward off negative energies or entities. This is a safe place to camp. With a week of study, the effect could be replicated in other rooms of the exact same size (carving and placement are critical).
  19. A random cursed magic item.
  20. A random magic item or arcana.
