Loc: Arroyo
A dried-up riverbed courses through the desert, cut shallow and wide into the earth. A sprinkling of diamonds, worth 25 gold* x Depth in total catch the eye of wanderers, among the sediment.
If the wanderers stop to collect the gems--or even if more than one wanderer stoops to inspect them--a band of frogfolk burst from burrows in the dirt. The band numbers 1d6 per Depth, plus one Rain Shaman per two levels of Depth.
The frogfolk demand all belongings except water (they aren't heartless). If things are looking dire for the frogfolk, the Rain Shaman(s) will attempt to call down a flash flood; see below.
* Or more if not using Into the Odd.
Frogfolk Bandit
STR 11, DEX 13, WIL 8, 6hp. Spear (d8 B). Driven to collect odds and ends to sell to caravaneers. Will defend the shamans with their lives and retreat if all shamans are killed.
Frogfolk Rain Shaman
STR 9, DEX 13, WIL 14, 6hp. Staff (d6 B). Driven to support their band.
Flash Flood
On a morale failure with at least one bandit remaining, a rain shaman attempts to call down a flash flood, to sweep away their opponents (and any bait diamonds). The wanderers make a STR or DEX save against drowning and are carried back to an area they have never been before. One shaman takes three rounds to call down the flash flood, two or more can perform the ritual in one. The flood is not restricted to the riverbed, but does feed it.
